Why is Jerome so lucky?

I've been asking myself this question for many years. When I say 'lucky', I mean his almost supernatural ability to win at games of chance. He wins at lots of other games as well using (it pains me to say this but it is true) great skill and intelligence: darts, bowling, basketball, Top Trumps.

But how come he always wins at turnovers? There's no skill in that. How come he found a way to cheat at Paper, Stone, Scissors? How come he always wins when we play Pontoon or Shut the Box?

Perhaps he went up to Goldberry Hill or wherever the devil lives in West Hendred and sold his soul...?
